 Planning regulations prohibited working outside the vernacular so the design draws significantly on local models, which are transformed through the introduction of new materiality and detailing to create volumes with a contemporary quality.

Located on secluded acreage on the North Shore of Kauai, the home rests among spectacular distant ocean and mountain views. Apertures frame a series of vistas which then become a part of the interior landscape helping to translate the essence of its Hawaiian context into architecture.

The narrow layout provides for interiors that are bathed in light and 360 degree views while insuring optimum cooling conditions.
